adidas Track Nationals Preview: A Crazy Pole Vault Battle

The championship of the boys pole vault could bring something special this weekend at adidas Track Nationals in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

With the nation's top two indoor pole vaulters both entered -- Scottsboro's Maddox Hamm and Madison Central's Wyatt Stewart -- the competition could elicit our top jump of the season, and maybe even elevate into historic 18-foot territory.

Now, to be fair, we're still a fair deal away from that mark. Stewart owns the nation's top indoor mark at 17 feet, 7 inches. Hamm has cleared 17-6 indoors.

But Hamm has already begun his outdoor season, and he has cleared heights of 18-1 and 17-9 in two straight meets. So Hamm has no shortage of confidence. With Stewart alongside him for the journey, we could see something special.
