One of New Jersey's top athletes earned top honors last week.
Following his NJSIAA Division 4 Group Championship championship win in the 1,600m, with a U.S. No. 1 time of 4:06.27, Ridge High School senior Jackson Barna scooped up National Performer of the Week recognition for Week 9.
Barna received a dominating 68-percent of the vote, accumulating just over 330 tallies, en route to the victory. He's the first New Jersey athlete to win the honor this indoor season.
A big congrats goes out to Jackson and all the other nominees on their recognition. Now, let's move on to this week's poll.
We will recognize a winner every week in this poll, with nominations handed out on Monday. The poll will end on Friday and winners will be announced the following Monday.
