A new major championship is on the horizon for the 2022 track and field season.
On Monday, meet director Stan Holloway announced the introduction of adidas Outdoor Nationals to the national calendar, with the championship meet set to be held at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina from June 17-19.

"Our entire team is excited to host the true national championship meet on a track and at a university that is known for breaking records," Holloway said. "This venue has hosted more prep national championships than any other venue in the United States and with the combination of its size, location, and quality we know that this will be the event athletes will want to be at."
adidas Outdoor Nationals is the second of two national championship meets to be held in 2022 by the Virginia-based meet management. In March, adidas Track Nationals will take place indoors at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
MileSplit and FloSports will exclusively stream the event.
Qualifying times will be posted on MileSplit for all divisions beginning in March. Another wrinkle: Athletes who qualify for their state championships for NFHS sanctioned events will qualify automatically for adidas Outdoor Nationals.
