The race of the weekend at the Louie Bing Track and Field Invitational on Saturday was the boys 400m.
Three of Florida's top sprinters went mano a mano for the rights to the country's fastest outdoor 400m.
And in the end, Montverde's Zyaire Nuriddin took center stage, clocking a new U.S. No. 1 time of 46.73 seconds.
But it was quite the race, with Hialeah-Miami Lakes junior Mekhi Gammons hanging on in the final straightaway. He finished second in 47.18, while St. Thomas Aquinas' King Mack was third in 47.69. Christopher Columbus' Adrian Cardero was fourth in 48.25.
All four performances now stand at U.S. No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 on the season.
And for Nuriddin, it wasn't his only shining moment. The win in the 400m was part of three other quality finishes, including a win in the 200m (21.57) and a runner-up finish in the 100m (10.63).
