What's new for Will Sumner?
On Saturday at the UK High School Invitational inside Nutter Fieldhouse, the Woodstock (GA) High School junior eclipsed his previous best in the 400m en route to a new U.S. No. 1 time of 46.78 seconds.
That performance stands at No. 11 all-time for 400m. It's also a new overall No. 1 for the No. 1 athlete in the MileSplit50.
Slotting right in second was Nikolas Butler-Simpson, who ran 48.51 seconds. Nayyir Newash-Campbell was third in 48.61.
A total of eight boys broke 50 seconds in the 400m across the fastest two heats.
Sumner also improved upon his 200m time on Saturday, clocking a winning-time of 21.58 seconds. That improved to U.S. No. 9 on the season.
