Will Sumner did it again.
Exactly one week ago at the VA Showcase, Sumner broke the national high school record in the 500m with a 1:01.25.
History repeated itself on Saturday at the CYUP Misfits Invitational for the Georgia signee at the Gately Indoor Track and Field Center in Chicago, Illinois, as Sumner lined up in the 600m for the first time ever in his career and crossed the finish line in 1:15.58 to smash the previous record by two seconds.
The Woodstock (GA) senior immediately took control of the race as soon as the starting gun went off. Sumner began to separate himself from the rest of the field as his first 400m was in 49.60 seconds.
The previous best was set back in 2012 by Strymar Livingston of Christopher Columbus Camp (NY) when he ran a 1:17.58 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
