Last year's fourth-place finisher in the shot put at adidas Indoor Nationals will debut in the event over the weekend.
In the only indoor meet she competed in last winter, Franklin threw 57-3.75 in the shot put. She was one of the top female shot-put athletes for two years in a row from the state of Maryland.
During the spring, she finished 18th in the shot put and 25th in the discus at the Outdoor Nationals.
