    The past four years running at Florida State University, I've been asked by friends and other athletes what it takes to get a scholarship in track and field.

    The short answer is this: Run fast.

    There is nothing more important going into recruitment than simply running fast. Track and field has 12.6 scholarships for men and 18 scholarships for women. It is the coach's or director's job to make that scholarship amount spread to a football size team.

    But this also makes programs ask questions before they finalize a recruit.
