In 2017, Lakota East Graduate Dustin Horter won the OHSAA Early Season Invitational setting up for a very successful senior cross country season. His time of 15:18.20 was the fastest on the day.
Horter, who now runs for Indiana University, went on to win 10 of the 12 meets he competed in that season including the D1 boys' race at the OHSAA Ohio State Cross Country Championship and the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional. He capped off that season with a sixth-place finish at team nationals.
