HUMBLE, TEXAS-- It was a close matchup between Lauren Tolbert and Anastacia Gonzales in the women's 17-18-year-old 800m final on Wednesday.
Tolbert came around the last bend and challenged the 2018 champion for the title. She crossed the finish line in a winning time of 2:10.27 while Gonzales finished in second with a 2:10.68.
The day before, Gonzales earned her first gold medal of the week and added an AAU Junior Olympic Games record to her name.
