HUMBLE, TEXAS -- Scotlandville (LA) freshman Makeriah Harris set a new U.S. No. 2 performance in the 400 meter hurdles on Monday at the AAU Junior Olympics as she covered the distance in 59.29 seconds.
The effort marked the second time Harris has dipped under 60 seconds for her career. The Louisiana native last secured a PR of 59.88 seconds came at the AAU Region 11 Qualifier on June 19.
While Harris has won her last five races at the distance, she'll face Oak Park's Nonah Waldron in the finals, and the matchup couldn't be any better at this point.
Waldron went a US No. 11 mark of 1:00.74 in preliminary action.
