HUMBLE, TEXAS -- You always need to expect the unexpected at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
And guess what? No surprise, the boys 10yo racewalk offered the first glimpse of epic championship racing on Saturday at George Turner Stadium.
From start to finish, the young racewalking talent of Matthew Maerz and Kadesh Lott were neck-and-neck.
But in the final 100m, it became an all-out war.
The pair were less than an inch apart at the finish line as Maerz, who competes for KT Express, netted the win in 9:46.76. Lott was second in 9:46.86. Check out the race above.
