Back in 2018, Athing Mu's legend was still forming at the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
Back then, the Trenton Track Club athlete was one of the Games' top stars, and in 2018 during the championship event in Des Moines, Iowa, she was eyeing up an incredible haul: Potential championships in the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1,500m.
While Mu came up just short in the 15-16 age group win in the 200m, she would go on to triple in the 400m (52.83), 800m (2:07.54) and 1,500m (4:38.78).
Four years later, Mu is headed to her first Olympics after winning the 800m at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June. Mu ran the current-best time in the world in 1:56.07 to win the women's field.
The newly-minted professional for Nike won an NCAA title for the Texas A&M Aggies in the 400m and set numerous records over her one-and-done season in College Station.
