The National Throws Festival will surely offer a rare experience in June: A championship event for high school throwers, managed by one of the country's foremost track and field academies and produced and directed by an Olympic thrower.
For a long time, the SPIRE Academy's Kibwe Johnson had the vision.
But this summer, Johnson and the SPIRE Academy will get the opportunity to make it a reality as the organization is set to bring one of the nation's top throwing events of the outdoor campaign to athletes across the United States.
The National Throws Festival will take place on the SPIRE Academy campus in Geneva, Ohio, from June 17-20 and will feature championship discus, hammer, javelin, shot put and discus events.
The event is open to all athletes, including outside the U.S.
Divisions will include high school championships, U20-specific open fields, freshman-only events and middle-school formats.
Registration will close on June 14.
