The NCAA outdoor track season is underway and we're beginning to see a handful of promising and exciting results trickle in. A handful of true freshmen from the Class of 2020 have also begun competition, specifically in a variety of unique events.

Below, we highlighted three rookie women who are having notable success at the collegiate level in non-traditional disciplines.


Lexy Halladay, Brigham Young University

Event: 3000m Steeplechase


The steeplechase, by all measures, is not an event that true freshmen in the collegiate ranks typically find success in. At the high school level, we rarely see the steeplechase being run, although certain states like New York do spoil that argument a bit.
