VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA -- Avery Lewis of Friends' Central (PA) improved her own freshman high school national record to 21 feet, 2.5 inches on her final long jump of the day on Saturday at adidas Indoor Nationals.
After her first four jumps, her fifth one consisted of a foul. The next time she stepped on the straightaway, she decided to go for it. That resulted in an improvement in her personal best by three inches and an US No. 6 all-time jump.
She will compete in the 60m semi-finals Sunday morning at 10am EST.
