The year of good vibes for Shawnti Jackson continued on Sunday.
The Run U Xpress athlete, at just 15 years old, added two more electric performances to her resume at the American Track League inside the Randal Tyson Track Center, netting not one but two all-time performances in the 60m and 200m.
After an impressive preliminary run of 7.31 seconds, Jackson returned to the finals where she posted a career best time and seventh-place finish in 7.24 seconds, which is tied for the fourth-fastest time in high school history and also for the fourth-best performance ever by an athlete. World Athletics also has the performance as a new World age-15 best.
Not done, however, Jackson added yet another highlight in the 200m, authoring a fourth-place performance in 23.23 seconds, which is now tied for the sixth-best time and fifth-best performance ever, right beside former California great Lauren Rain Williams.
It should said, though, that for as much as the times mattered, so too did the level of competition Jackson ran against, including women who were post-collegiate and professional athletes, in their mid-20s.
It wasn't surprising that Jackson, who is the daughter of Olympic medalist Bershawn Jackson, held her own, but it was also a reminder of just how far she's broken through in 2021.
Jackson dropped her former 200m best by 0.3 seconds, while her 60m time also came down considerably.
