Already over the course of the indoor track season, we've seen some impressive performances from several athletes. One athlete in particular is Run U Xpress' (NC) Shawnti Jackson. The sophomore competed on Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Galleria Games with two big runs in the 15-16-year-old age group.
Jackson kicked off her weekend with the 60m dash, where she ran a time of 7.39, beating the previous meet record (7.66) as well as tying the US No. 1 mark. She followed up her record-setting run in the 60m with another record in the 400m dash. The North Carolina native clocked an effort of 55.61 seconds to beat the previous meet record of 56.53 held by 2020 Buford (GA) graduate Kimberly Harris.
These runs mark big improvements for Jackson as she has already tied her previous indoor bests of 7.39 in the 60m dash -- from her freshmen year -- and 57.51 in the 400m from her eighth-grade year.
