Welin improved in the 2-mile, 3-mile and 5K this cross country season.
She ran an impressive 3-mile race at the IHSA 3A Sectional at Whitney Young, crossing the finish line in 16:33.31. In the 5K, she also ran a new personal best of 17:25.64 as she won the 2020 XC Championships.
A week later, she finished 10th at the XC Town USA Meet of Champions. Welin finished the course in 17:55.70 with a 142 speed rating.
Last year, Welin competed in the 3A Regional at Washington Park and finished in 18:41.60, which marked a 2:08.29 improvement.
