Wells had an opportunity to set a new personal best at the FHSAA 3A-6 Championships, and that she did in 16:50.78, pocketing the first sub-17 minute 5K of her career.
The MileSplit50 No. 16 ranked runner also won her first FHSAA Class 3A Cross Country State Championships in a new course record 17:16.50 and placed seventh at the AAU National Cross Country Championships.
She may have been the top female harrier overall in 2020.
In a year's span, Wells ran 30.79 seconds faster at the FHSAA Region 3A-2 Championships and at the state championship course, she improved by 43 seconds year-over-year at Apalachee Regional Park.
