Perez has only competed in two cross country seasons and she has already shown so much growth.
The New Jersey native won six of her seven meets this season -- and also placed second overall at the Team Nationals Virtual Championships. She also broke 17 minutes for the first time for 5K in her career at the Big North - Division C Batch in October, winning the meet in 16:56 -- it was one of two performances udner 17 minutes on the season; the other was at the Virtual Championships when she ran 16:39.00.
Perez also defended her NJSIAA Sectionals - 1 North at Garret Mountain in Woodland Park, New Jersey. This season, she dropped a minute off her time and crossed the line in 17:31.
Year-over-year, Perez showed just over a minute's improvement in the 5K.
