Steffen took some major strides over her senior season.
Even though she only competed in four races, she set two personal bests in the 3-mile and 5K. At a tri-meet in October, she finished the course in 3-mile course 18:57 -- PR'ing by nearly two minutes year-over-year and winning for the first time in her career.
A month later, she ran 18:20.40 for 5K at the 12th Rock Northeast Cross Country Club Championships, posting a new personal best and a crazy YOY jump: Three minutes and 50 seconds.
While Steffen wasn't winning any national races, she was among the country's top improved athletes overall. All of her 5K performances were under 19:20.
This year, she also earned another huge accomplishment when won the SCC Division Championships in 18:46. It marked the first time she won a race with over 100 entrants.
