Chanice Spicer Produces New US No. 1 200m In Alabama


Brewbaker Tech senior and University of Alabama signee Chanice Spicer produced a career best indoor mark on Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama, winning a stacked 200m field at the Southeast AAU Track and Field Invitational which included Texas talents Taejha Badal, Autumn Wilson, Hali Murphy and Louisiana's Raven Nunnery

Spicer posted a new nation-leading US No. 1 time of 24.24 seconds to win the field, outpacing Murphy's US No. 3 time of 24.68 and Wilson's US No. 5 mark of 24.91. Badal was fourth in 24.95 and Nunnery finished in 25.45. 

Murphy and Wilson, however, would answer in other events. 

Murphy finished as the only high school girl to break 60 seconds in the 400m, posting an overall time of 56.28 seconds, while Murphy took down Spicer in the 60m, winning in 7.55 seconds. Spicer was second in 7.57, while Badal was third in 7.62.
