We're only halfway through the month of September, but there's already a handful of interesting insights and takeaways that we have after seeing a handful of college commitments.

While many more developments are sure to come, here are some of the key aspects of the early-commitment period that we took note of. 


Distance Runners Have Been Early Commitment-Setters 


It's not necessarily uncommon for high school distance runners to be the first to make their college commitments and decisions, but that seems to be the case even more so in 2020.

Yes, there are also a ton of other non-distance running commitments, but when you take a look at MileSplit's College Commitments page, it's hard to ignore the vast number of athletes who specialize in an event that is 800 meters or longer.
