* Ryan Crouser, a 2011 graduate of Barlow High School, won an Olympic gold in the shot put in 2016

Which high school athletes were the best performers all-time across more than one event? Today begins a new series where we look at the top athletes within that context.

First up is the throws.

We've compiled historical leaders in the shot put and discus across their high school careers. And no surprise, an Olympic gold medalist tops the boys list.

In 2011, Ryan Crouser graduated Barlow (OR) High School with the second-best shot put throw of all-time (77 feet, 2.75 inches) and a national record best mark of 237-6 in the discus.

His performances added up to over 300 feet of combined marks between those two events. But interestingly enough, he wasn't the only athlete over 300 feet. Check out the rest of the marks in the links below, as well as all-time girls marks.
