In January, MileSplit followed three unsigned seniors, Houston Spring Westfield's Deanthony Nervis, Arlington Martin's Isaiah Teer, and Plano Prestonwood Christian's Dennis Phillips at the Texas A&M High School Classic. These sprinters had hopes for a successful outdoor season, but their seasons were halted by the coronavirus pandemic. Fortunately, that didn't have a negative impact on their recruiting prospects.
In the fall, Teer will attend the University of Mississippi, Nervis will be at Southern University and A&M College in Louisiana, and Phillips will begin his collegiate journey at Texas Christian University. These athletes spoke with Olivia Ekpone about how their recruiting journey unfolded even during the pandemic.
