Lone Peak's (UT) Jaron Hartshorn clocked a 4:20.93 1600m over the weekend in a time trial. The time, although unofficial for record books purposes, is the fastest 1600m time ever run by a Utah freshman. The fastest official time at a meet is 4:21.83 held by Springville's (UT) Grant Gardner. Gardner ran that time to place 8th at the Utah State Track and Field Championships in his freshman year (2016).
Watch our interview above where we had Hartshorn break down his performance, and talk about his goals for cross country.
