7. A Throw For The Ages For Monique Hardy

When we caught up with Webster Thomas (NY) senior Monique Hardy at the beginning of the indoor season, she said she had her sights set on one thing: Breaking the national record in the weight throw.
The senior came ever so close, throwing a US No. 2 all-time mark of 66-11.25 in February at the Millrose Games in New York City.
She was only roughly two feet off the national record mark of 68-2.75, last accomplished by St. Pius X High School graduate (GA) Shelby Ash in 2011.
