It was only a matter of time before we saw Trey Knight again.

The history-making Ridgefield (WA) High School thrower, who owns freshman and sophomore class records in the weight throw and continues to chase Chaminade (CA) graduate Conor McCullough for the nation's top all-time mark, debuted at The Simplot Games on Thursday in Pocatello, Idaho, powering an 84-foot mark (25.60 meters) to win his third straight championship there.

Knight immediately landed back at US No. 1 for the throw and No. 13 on the all-time list.

"I was feeling ready," Knight said. "The first three throws felt pretty good. And I kind of went for it."

The University of Southern California signee is opening a bit later into his season. In previous years, Knight had thrown in the fall months and then into December and January. He finished the 2019 with the top five throws of the season and landed a career best 86-7.5 mark, to go along with his second straight New Balance Nationals Indoor title.

But Knight is still chasing that elusive 90-foot marker for the 25-pound weight throw.

McCullough owns the nation's top indoor mark all-tie at 93-3.25 -- and seven others just short of that mark on the all-time list.
