7. The Girls Long Jump

Athletes To Watch: Jasmine Jones (Norcross Greater Atlanta Christian, GA)

Breakdown: Jones, the reigning Pan American U20 Championship 100-meter hurdle champion, has competed just once this indoor season. But it was at the South Carolina Challenge where the University of Southern California signee swiftly set a new US No. 1 mark in the 60mH, going 8.38 seconds. We'll get to that later, as Jones is expected to compete in her favored event on Friday at the CrossPlex.

But we should also mention Jones is entered in the long jump. While she scored an outdoor PR of 20-2.25 at the Georgia State Championships, her indoor PR is 18-9.5. It's not that easy to acclimate to the board without reps, but Jones -- if history serves any help here -- should be somewhere in the middle of those two marks. And that would be impressive, because just 11 high school girls have broken 19 feet so far this indoor season. Only one other (Claire Bryant) has gone past 20-feet.
