Progression is a fluid concept in track and field.
It may not come every race, but when it does it sparks genuine euphoria.
A total of 30 girls have improved at least 20 seconds in the 800m year-over-year, and among the top 50 athletes in the country right now, a total of five have cut at least nine seconds off their best effort over that span.
Calista Segura, a junior from Dallas Wilson High School and Track Dynamite Track Club, has made the most progression among girls under 2:20, erasing 21 seconds off her previous best from a year ago. That's incredible.
