* The MileSplit LIVE gang discusses Nike Cross Nationals Northwest Regional this weekend in Idaho
- - -
The Nike Cross Nationals Northwest Regional is headed our way on Saturday near Boise, Idaho. Programs from Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming form one of the deepest regional races in the country.
It's held annually on the Eagle Island Cross Country Course, which is a looping, hilly 5K oval which includes grass, dirt and sand.
Athletes on this course who qualify have traditionally fared well at Nike Cross Nationals, which is held in Portland, Oregon -- right in this region's back yard. Last year's national girls team champion, Summit, for instance, competes in the Northwest region.
And temperatures on Saturday could make for perfect racing.
Highs are projected in the mid 50s with no rain. Northwest is one of two regionals this weekend. You can check out our in-depth preview of the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Region here.
