6. The Woodlands (TX)

Analysis: The Woodlands is a team that has a long tradition of attending NXN. They've won numerous NXN South Region titles, including most recently in 2015. The past three years, however, have been a bit of a thorn in the team's side. In 2016 they finished third and had to wait for the at-large committee to decide their fate. That year they did receive an at-large bid and ended up placing eighth at nationals. In 2017 and 2018, they weren't so lucky, placing fourth both years at the region meet. This year though they return all seven runners from the NXN South Regional. The team consists of seniors Ryan Cardinal, Ethan Hammer, Aaron Soltmann, and Benjamin Amundson and juniors Joshua English, Brian Sewell, and Matias Mononen. That team also won the Class 6A UIL State title, scoring 99 points. One thing this team will have to work on to make sure they make it back to NXN this year is getting their 1-5 spread under a minute. It's something that could make or break them in a larger and deeper field like NXN South.
