Analysis: Last cross-country season the guys from La Salle just missed out on qualifying for NXN. The team placed fourth in the Northeast Region behind CBA (NJ), Bishop Hendricken (RI), and Haddonfield Memorial (NJ). This season the team returns three of their top five and five of their top seven with speed ratings of 180, 177, 168, 165, and 161. La Salle almost always reloads nicely and puts itself in contention to make it to NXN. Last year they had an intense back-and-fourth string of meets against in-state rival Bishop Hendricken (RI). Hendricken won the Rhode Island State Championships by five points, then La Salle took the New England XC Championship title scoring 49 points to Hendricken's 80, and ultimately
Hendricken would place second at NXN Northeast to go on to nationals, while La Salle would place fourth and not make the national meet.
Although Hendricken placed fourth nationally last season LaSalle starts the season ranked ahead of them because of who they have returning. The Rams return three of their top-five and five of their top seven, including their two top runners in rising junior Jack Mcloughlin and rising senior Max Dimuccio. Look for the rivalry between La Salle and Bishop Hendricken to be just a fierce as ever with both teams looking to make it to nationals in 2019.
