Notable Finishes: 9th at Foot Locker Nationals; 8th at Foot Locker South; 1st at TSSAA State Cross Country Championships; 5th at Great American; 3rd at Wingfoot XC; Ran a 10:26 in 3,200m at Hoka One One Postal Nationals

Analysis: A transplant to Tennessee just last year, Hutchins had one of the best freshman seasons of 2018-2019 ...anywhere. From a third-place finish at the Wingfoot XC Classic to a fifth-place nod at Great American, Hutchins' cross country season took shape early and then started to see the fruits of that labor late with a Tennessee Division I title, a qualification to Foot Locker, and an All-American finish at nationals in 17:43.40. Let's not forget that 10:26.87 3,200m in November, either -- that would have finished US No. 4 for freshman over the outdoor season. 

The jury is still out, but Hutchins might be even better on the track, where she ran a US No. 2 freshman time in the 1,600m and a US No. 3 first-year effort in the 1-mile. Over the outdoor season, her 1-mile best of 4:43.33 at the Music City Distance Carnival was tops for all freshmen, as was her 10:25.01 for 2-mile at the Volunteer Track Classic. 

Hutchins showed poise beyond her years in 2018-2019. So this season, if nothing else, expect consistency, and a pursuit of even greater heights.
