Six Races From Gwinnett's County Meet To Take Stock In

5. Jasmine Jones In The 100 Meter Hurdles

- - -

The Greater Atlanta Christian junior showed this past indoor season that she's a force to be reckoned with, earning her second-straight All-American finish in the 60mH at New Balance Nationals Indoor with a runner-up nod to Western Branch's Shadajah Ballard. She finished US No. 2 with a time of 8.22 seconds.

But now it's time to turn our attention to the short hurdles, where Jones scored her best time of the season with a 13.87 second performance in the preliminaries of the Gwinnett Country Track and Field Meet -- she eventually came back to earth in the finals with a winning time of 14.31 seconds.

Still, that 13.87 stands as a US No. 8 mark and Georgia's top mark so far, and Jones certainly has the potential to cut that time down. As a sophomore she went 13.68 seconds. Wheeler (GA) High School senior Tia Jones turned pro during the indoor season, so that leaves Jones as one of the next-best suitors for the honor of the state's next best hurdler -- Stockbridge's Darci Khan is the other contender.

Oh yeah, Jones also won the 200m in 24.17 seconds, too.

Watch out for Jones.
