Boys 2-Mile Championship: Alex Maier vs. Devin Hart vs. Ryan Oosting
Contenders: Kashon Harrison, Matt Meinke, Shea Weilbaker
Why:
Here are a few of the major storylines:
- A motivated Devin Hart is coming off a loss at New Jersey's Meet of Champions, but he went a US No. 2 time of 8:54.45, so there was a small consolation in that performance
- Ryan Oosting should be all-in for a sub-9 performance -- he was second in this race last year in 9:01.87, but wasn't able to close on Brodey Hasty.
- Alex Maier returns!
Oosting enters with the nation's No. 1 time at 2-miles with his 9:04.89 from his performance at the All-State Championships, though Hart may be the pre-race favorite with his converted 8:57.55.
We haven't seen Maier since his 9:14.45 from January at the Texas A & M Indoor Classic, but he's been training in Texas and readying for the outdoor season. He could throw down a ridiculous time, or he could blend into the pack. It's anyone's guess here, but he's capable of being in the lead pack.
