Girls 60mH Championship
Entries: 37
2018 Winner: Tia Jones, Woodstock, Georgia, 8.05 seconds
Armory Record: Tonea Marshall, Arlington, Massachusetts, 8.02 seconds
National Record: Tonea Marshall, Arlington, Massachusetts, 8.02 seconds
Threats To Win: Shadajah Ballard, Kori Carter, Jasmine Jones, Aasia Laurencin, Alexis Patterson, Jazmine Tilmon, Christina Warren
Analysis: It's Ballard vs. Jones. Only a hundredth of a second separates the personal best times of each of these athletes. Jones ran to a US No. 1 of 8.32 seconds at the UK High School Invitational on Feb. 16. Ballard, of Western Branch, went 8.33 seconds at the Camel City Invitational on Feb. 2.
Ballard has been on a redemption tour of sorts in 2019, winning the sorts of invitationals where she came up short last year -- notably, The VA Showcase. Jones was third in this race last year; Ballard was seventh. Both return.
Notably, Tia Jones, the national champ from 2018 who still had high school eligibility, won't return after turning pro earlier this year. Michigan's Grace Stark hasn't raced indoors much, either, and won't return.
