Jamaican professional distance runner Kemoy Campbell collapsed while rabbiting the men's 3,000m race on Saturday at the Millrose Games in New York City as the 28-year-old's breathing reportedly stopped. According to NBC, Campbell was treated with an automated external defibrillator (AED), which would indicate that he had suffered cardiac arrest.

Campbell fell to the infield shortly after the fifth lap, and he remained down for 15 to 20 minutes as paramedics and event staff attended to him. However, the men's 3,000m was completed even while Campbell was down on the ground.

The Olympian was eventually carried away in a stretcher to a nearby hospital.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Chavez reports that Kemoy Campbell has a pulse, and is breathing with assistance. According to Chavez, Campbell will stay overnight at the hospital in the intensive care unit (ICU).
