Looked good at its Southwestern League finals with a full of performers and has looked like another team since its loss at Bob Firman

Tempo'ed the SS Prelims and should roll out a hard performance in the SS Finals

135-127-126-122-107-90-82 -- their performance at Northwest was not indicative of the talent level ; the Braves should be a lock to get in to NXN

156-130-125-116-107-105-99 -- there's an outside chance FM finishes third at NXR NY (or worse, fourth or fifth) and that would be mark for a really crazy ripple effect

Did not get speed rated at its sectional, but it's very clear there are three favorites in New York and any three could win the NY Regional

140-125-122-122-112-106-105 -- has a very outside shot of making it to NXN, but performance stacks up against the rest of the country

144-139-116-114-114 -- their performance is particularly interesting. The team did not win the 6A race in Texas, but there's a likelihood a bigger field will help this team control its performance and could yield an auto berth

* Most team's performances can be compared to a composite speed rating which can be found on TullyRunners.com. This made evaluating each team's effort at either a state championship or a Nike Cross Regional a little easier, though we only used those numbers as one barometer for our ranking.
Note: Why We Moved North Naperville over Summit at No. 1
Explanation: The interesting part in all of this is that Summit's girls performed up to expectations at NXR Northwest, controlling the region in Idaho with a dominant effort against a handful of nationally ranked teams. But at this stage of the season, it's not only about winning. It's how you race. And while Summit looked very good, and will most certainly have a chance to win a national title at Nike Cross Nationals, we have to give the No. 1 nod to Naperville North. The Huskies looked better than they have all season at NXR Midwest and the spectacular rise of No. 1 Alex Morris at that race (152 speed rating) puts the team on another level. If Naperville North can continue in that form in Portland, Oregon, then the team will be very hard to beat. The lineups that both Summit and Naperville North employ are very similar, though the Huskies have a little more depth at 5-6-7, and that will prove important in a national field.
On The Bubble:
26. Farmington (MN): Finished fifth at NXR Heartland and fourth in the Class AA race in Minnesota, but those finishes underscore just how well this team has run against top competition. 144-136-124-113-105
27. La Costa Canyon (CA): Will need a very good performance at the SS Finals to move up the rankings. 144-123-118-100-99
28. Marietta (GA): Won the overall merge in Georgia and the Class 7A championships, but the field was not very strong. 135-126-116-110-103-100
29. Battle Mountain (CO): Lost its 4A title race to Niwot, but still has a chance to grab an automatic spot at NXR Southwest with a good race. 128-123-119-113-111-104-82
30. Desert Hills (UT): Won the overall merge in Utah in a somewhat particular down year for distance programs in Utah. 123-122-107-106-106-105
