The Greenville County Champs race at Woodmont High School in Piedmont, South Carolina, had a crazy close finish between Ava Dobson of St. Josephs (SC) and Greer Middle College Charter's (SC) Morgan Summey. The entire race Donson had a lead on Summey but in the final 300m that lead looked to be in jeopardy.
Summey was closing hard around the 300m finish on the track, running stride for stride with Dobson. In the end, Dobson would hold her off and take the win running 18:09.30 but Summey would come in second almost 45 seconds ahead of third.
