Knights Crossing

Breakdown: One of Virginia's biggest regular season meets, Knights Crossing will have 85 teams and over 2,300 athletes competing. We'll have our eyes on performances from a couple teams, notably the Blacksburg girls, who enter the season ranked No. 16 on the MileSplit50. This course is going to be fast, and it's only a short hike away from Blacksburg (30-ish miles), which presents ideal conditions for the Bruins. The team is the top-ranked squad in Virginia and has two of the top runners in the state-junior Kaitlynn Wolfe and Ailene Edwards returning for big seasons. So Blacksburg should be the team to watch. On the boys front, Scottsboro (AL), who won a Class 5A title last season, is traveling from out-of-state and looks to be the favorite on paper, returning six of seven.
