Chloe Cunliffe from West Seattle High School (WA) vaulted a new Washington State record this past weekend at the USATF Region 13 Championship.
Chloe, the sister of professional Adidas athlete Hannah Cunliffe, vaulted 14 feet. Her mark not only gives her the new Washington state record but ties her as the 11th-best performer of all time. She joins two other athletes who were also able to vault 14 feet this year in Flower Mound Marcus (TX) Mackenzie Hayward and New Caney's (TX) Nastassja Campbell.
For Cunliffe, the mark is very impressive as before this she had only one mark over 13-5 which was from the WIAA 2A, 3A, 4A State Championship Meet. The rising senior won the WIAA Class 3A girls state title vaulting 13-8.5.
Over this year alone she has shown a vast improvement going from vaulting only 12-feet to win the N.Hale Franklin, Eastside, W.Seattle meet to now vaulting two feet higher to win this weekend's meet.
Cunliffe trains with NW Pole Vault during the club/summer season.
