With the cross country season fast approaching, we're going to take a look at the nation's top up-and-comers moving into the ninth grade for the 2018 season.

Saint Michael-Albertville's Ali Weimer finished the 2017 season with the top overall time in the Class of 2022, winning the girls open 5K in a personal best 17:49.65. Weimer's fall season wasn't far behind either, with a ninth-place finish at the Class AA championships in 18:22.00 and a second-place nod at the Section 5AA championships in 18:36.30.

Who else is primed for a big season?

Check out the full list in the slideshow and stay tuned for the girls ranking later on in the day.
