The nation's fastest girls sprinter at 100 meters is officially headed to the Great Southwest Classic.
Oakland Park Northeast (FL) sophomore Briana Williams, who broke a world age group record for 15-year-olds in March with a wind-legal time of 11.13 (+1.7) seconds, is the latest blue chip athlete to register for the annual event in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Williams is entered in both the 100m and 200m alongside Texans Kynnedy Flannel, Kenondra Davis, Alexis Brown and Kelly Rowe.
Just last week, Williams, who's one of Jamaica's fastest up-and-coming youth athletes, earned a quality resume-booster with a win at the adidas Boston Boost Games Dream 100, beating the likes of Brown and Rowe.
But here, the Florida prep could feasibly go after a sub-11 second time at elevation on the University of New Mexico's track.
Her five fastest wind-legal times this season have all been under 11.40 seconds.

Williams will likely use this outing as a springboard toward a qualification to the U20 World Junior Championships in Finland which take place in July.
She'll also compete in the 200m, where she has the fastest wind-legal time at 23.11, which stands at US No. 2.
But Flannel is the only athlete registered to far to have gone under 23 seconds. Two weeks ago, the Alvin (TX) senior went 22.95 all conditions at the UIL Championships.
