Georgia took center stage this past week in National Performer of the Week.
And in one of the more entertaining back-and-forth voting duels of the spring, it was Pickens County (GA) senior Olivia Moore who earned the hard-earned honor.
Her then-US No. 4 pole vault of 13 feet, 7 inches -- a massive PR by over a foot -- at the Georgia state championships helped Moore garner over 49 percent of the vote and over 1,100 tallies, surpassing fellow Georgia athlete Brynne Sumner, whose impressive 800-1600 double helped her earn two state titles.
Congrats to Moore and to Sumner and to the rest of the athletes receiving votes.
Now on to this week's candidates.
It was a remarkable week full of state championship surprises and records.
