Kick Of The Week: Freshman Hope Frost Wins Two State Titles

This past Saturday at the VISAA Championships in Richmond, Virginia, Stonebridge School (VA) freshman Hope Frost won not one but two VISAA state titles. One of her titles came in the 1600m, where she had a crazy last 100m kick.

Frost was leading for almost the entire race until the last lap. On the backstretch, the Covenant School's (VA) Ella Dalton made a big push to take the lead. The two battled around the curve with Dalton with coming out ahead. Watching the video it looked like Frost might be done, but just when you start to think that she hits another gear.

With 50 meters to go, the two were neck-and-neck. It wasn't until the line when the race was decided. Frost pulled ahead as Dalton made a lean for the line. Frost won in 5:24.00 while Dalton finished right behind her in 5:24.07. The two also battled in the 3200m, which Frost won in 11:29.56 with Dalton placing second in 11:40.71. Check out the race above and more from the VISAA Championships below.
