This May the girls 800m is already starting to heat up.

Over the past five years, the month of May has been the time to consistently see some serious speed in the girls 800m. In May 2014, Mary Cain ran the high school national record of 1:59.51. She's the only high school girl to ever to run under two minutes in the 800m.

In other years, there have been several ladies who have also dropped some quick times in May, including five sub-2:05 performances. Alexa Efraimson from Camas, Washington, ran 2:04.10 in the 800m in 2014, Jordyn Colter from Cherry Creek High School in Colorado ran 2:04.56 in 2015, Rush Henrietta Sperry High School's (NY), Sammy Watson in 2017 ran 2:01.47, and now this year Caitlin Collier from Bolles High School in Florida has added her name to that list.

Collier ran 2:02.77 to win the FHSAA Outdoor State Finals the first weekend in May.
