North Rockland (NY) sophomore Katelyn Tuohy made a big statement on Friday at the Glenn Loucks Games in White Plains, New York, winning the girls 3200m in a state and national record time of 9:47.88.
Tuohy's mark surpassed Kim Mortensen's top mark of 9:48.59 from 1996. It also converts to 9:51.29 for 2-miles -- the national record in the 2-mile is 9:51.35 by Brie Oakley in 2017 -- and 9:07.61 for 3K.
Saratoga Springs (NY) High sophomore Kelsey Chmiel was second overall.
