It all runs in the family for the Hunters.
Provo (UT) High junior Meghan Hunter has followed her sister Kate, now a freshman at BYU, as the next standout 400m sprinter at Provo after producing a US No. 3 time of 53.56 seconds at the UVU Invitational on Saturday.
Hunter's progression, though, has led her here.
In terms of year-over-year development at this same meet, this time marks nearly a second improvement from her previous best of 54.35 seconds, which she posted at the meet in 2017.
As a sophomore, she also went sub-56 twice and opened her 2018 season with a 54.70 time at the Timpanogos Alpha Invitational, where she also dropped a 24.58 200m race as well.
Over the indoor season, Hunter also ran 2:11.38 for 800m -- a race her sister excelled at as well. A potential state championship could be in line for Hunter soon enough.

Grabbing The Double
Meanwhile, North Summit (UT) High senior Sadie Sargent dropped a double in the 800m/1600m, logging impressive times of 2:14.38 and 5:03.92 for each distance.
Sargent, who belongs to a Braves squad that competes in small school Class 2A, is looking to repeat as the state champion in the 800m and 1600m -- she's won two straight titles in the 1600m as well.
The Return Of Gatorade XC Runner Of The Year
Get ready to watch the time drop for Aidan Troutner.
The reigning Gatorade Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year ran his second 1600m of the outdoor season on Saturday and flew to the line in a US No. 3 time of 4:11.09 at UVU.
He was 10 seconds faster than the second-place performer.
It marked a six-second clip of his debut of 4:17.78 from just two weeks ago.
Perhaps smartly picking his races week-to-week, Troutner is also coming off his first appearance in the 3200m, where he opened with a 9:19.90 at the UHSTCA Invitational on March 24.
